Blurry movement after conversion
Posted by Tim Srader on August 15, 2011 at 9:21 pmAfter converting DVD (.vob) files to MJPEG / PCM audio in AVI container (using Avidemux) the motion of people is blurry (almost like slow motion).
What can I do to correct this?thanks

August 16, 2011 at 8:32 amYou can change the .vob files ext to .mpg and edit them in vegas without converting. Also look up no recrompression renders for long GOP files that are just cut and paste, no effects,
and same same format, then you should see “no recompression required” in the preview window while it’s rendering, way faster and no quality loss. Hope this helps, Danny Hays -

August 16, 2011 at 1:57 pmI’m not sure why, but when I change ext of four .vob files to .mpg and drop them into timeline here’s what I get:
vts_01_1.mpg – original size = .99GB; after dropped onto timeline = 14.08 seconds of footage
vts_01_2.mpg – original size = .99GB; after dropped onto timeline = 15:49.08 of footage
vts_01_3.mpg – original size = .99GB; after dropped onto timeline = 11.17 seconds of footage
vts_01_4.mpg – original size = 416MB; after dropped onto timeline = 12.14 seconds of footageIf played normally in DVD player, it is 50+ minutes of footage.
Getting frustrated! I’m not sure what or why it’s happening.

You should import the DVD using the Vegas menu item: File | Import | DVD Camcorder Disc…

When I attempt to import the DVD (to a destination folder on desktop) using the File | Import | DVD Camcorder Disc option all that happens is it runs for a few seconds then stops, leaving an empty folder. Am I doing something incorrectly?

August 17, 2011 at 12:42 amIt sounds like you doing everything correctly. As long as it’s not copy-protected, Vegas should import it.

August 17, 2011 at 11:02 amIt’s a recording of my church’s Sunday service. It’s not copyrighted.
I’m at a total loss. No matter what destination (C: hdd, external hdd, or flash drive) the same result occurs.Suggestions / thoughts?
Thanks

August 17, 2011 at 2:01 pmUsed mediainfo to check DVD:
VTS_01_0.IFO shows 53:07 DVD
VTS_01_1.VOB shows :26 sec (duration); file size (1GB)
VTS_01_2.VOB shows :11 sec (duration); file size (1GB)
VTS_01_3.VOB shows :25 sec (duration); file size (1GB)
VTS_01_4.VOB shows :13 sec (duration); file size (417 MB)When Avidemux is used to reconvert to MJPEG and PCM (in AVI cont) I get the complete video but with a little blurring with any movement.
Frustrated!

August 17, 2011 at 2:59 pmI wish I had something but I’ve never had that function fail for me so I’m not sure what could make it not work. You might be able to use a tool like Womble MPEG-VCR and see if it can convert multiple VOB files to a single MPEG without re-encoding (I think it can and there is a free trial).
