Have you tried clicking on the plug-in icon on the audio event or on the track effect icon? Little green icon and adding effect that way?

Absolutly. A good way to sync the new audio with the video is to clap your hands at the beginning of the shoots with a few seconds between the clap and the action. The sharp spike in the audio waveform will make it very easy to line up the new wav to the one from the camera. Then just mute the audio track from the camera and then split the clap part out. Danny

If you mean making it letter boxed, You can select 16-9 in each event crop and render as widescreen. Just to add black bars to cover up the top and bottom, add 2 video track over the existing one, select media generator and solid color, black and trag it into each of the 2 new tracks and in track motion, move one to the top and one to the bottom to cover up the amount you want to. I’m not sure what you mean “applying non real time effects. Are you usine the audio plug-ins that come with Vegas? Are you using the trak effects chain or the event effect chain? Are you selecting the audio track and using edit, audio and effecting the wave that way? Danny Hays -
Oh yea, If you have to use Vegas for Chromakeying in the future, a few good lighting tips to help are, Make sure the green screen is evenly lit and as wrinkle free as possible and place your talent as far from the green screen as possible. This will reduce the spill and help keep the green screen out of focus, especially if your depth of field is set right on the camera. Also put a magenta gel on a back light for the talent. Magenta will help cancel out the spill as it is the opposite color of green. Danny Hays

Yes, but the chromakey pluggin in Vegas isnt very good, especially if you have green spill on the actor. If you have After Effects 7 or newer or Adobe Ultra at your disposal, You can get way better results. Keylight in After Effects works very well with spill shots as does Ultra. If Vegas is it, then I suggest putting a chromablur effect set to medium before the chromakey plug-in in the chain if your using DV footage. I read somewhere that changes the color space from 4.1.1 to 4.2.2 I think. Danny Hays

Theres a you tube link on my earlier post that shows exactly how I did it but I believe Douglas and Allen are right that you tube re-encodes all videos now and getting the 720 x 480 flv file on you tube is not possible any more. I’ve read in several forums that other sites like myspace tv will allow better quality videos to be uploaded but they probably don’t have the hits like the popular you tube. One way to find out if a site is allowing higher res vids on is to use the keepvid to save a video from you-tube and use G-spot also free to see what the properties of the saved video is.

If your external drive is a 7200 rpm drive firewire or usb2, you should be able to put your media on it and use it with Vegas. I have four Lacie ext. drives and have had no problems editing from them for several years. Danny Hays
