There are many types of AVI, and Vegas apparently doesn’t like the type your Mirillis Action is creating. I would try the MP4 and see it that works better for you.

[Hakan] The SeMW split and heal does work. I just downloaded it and tried it. You have to select the video and audio events next to the split by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on all four events first. Then hit the heal split icon. I don’t understand why we have to select the audio events since they were grouped but I had to or it just fixed the split for the video. I would normally just do as Graham does or Ctrl+z if I just split it and didn’t do anything else yet. But say I had several tracks selected and hit the s key. It would take a while to fix that with that method. This cool tool can fix all the splits in a project at the same time. Ctrl+A will highlight all tracks and events and fix them all.
[Steve Rohden] Thanks for the tip and link friend. I use Vegas for music videos usually. I use several cameras at the same time, and their never start recorded or stopped at the same time. I can just look at the audio waveforms to sync the videos up, put the curser at the beginning of the song, Ctrl+A and use the trim start feature to remove all the unneeded parts of the events at the beginning. I can use the trim end at the end of the song as well, and with everything still selected, I can move everything to the beginning of the timeline. That’s a big time saver. I also downloaded the SeMW “Auto levels” pluggin. That’s a fast way to do a pretty good color correct and brightness and contrast fix with one effect. These are some of the coolest new things I have learned about Vegas in quite a while. Thanks again Steve. 😉 -
Yea, what Aaron said. I believe Vegas can do that for you. Or at least to some other lossless codec file.

I think your new camera is making video files a type that Vegas has a hard time with. I bet your preview window settings are at best full. If they are, try setting it to preview auto and see if that makes a difference.

Yes that is the case, only if you create a sub clip. You can just select an in and out point and drag it to the timeline without creating a sub clip and still have access to the whole clip. The only reason I can see for creating sub clips is if you want to save the project to be used on another computer and keep it small by not have all the not needed parts of the original files. And then you would have to remove the unused full clips from the project media, and save the project with media.
[Steve Rhoden] I agree this thread has gotten a little humorous. The Vegas forums here have changed a little since I was the top leader of both years ago. But I still love it. I have learned more about Vegas here than anywhere else. Thanks CreativeCOW and the Vegas forum users. 🙂 -
If your computer can edit the original video without having to drop the preview setting to draft in order to see enough frames per second, than there’s no need to convert it before editing. When computers were slower, they had a hard time editing HD video, and people were making proxies, converting as you say to something their computer can handle easier, then replacing them with the originals right before rendering. Bob’s right, but Try opening “Uninstall a program” by clicking the start button, type uninstall, and you can see it pop up. If it doesn’t show up there or does but doesn’t work, Before you do a restore, try disabling it by typing msconfg in the same place you typed uninstall a program. Click on the startup tab, and see if you find it. If you do, uncheck it and reboot your computer. If not, then a restore of some type may be needed.

I have the USB3 shuttle too. I just tried to find a way with Media composer 5, and it seems DV, HDV via 1394 is the only way to capture and playback from an external device, unless you have Adrenaline or Mojo. then Avid hardware can be used.
