If it’s only one audio track and it only reached -12dB then right click on the audio event, switches, and click normalize. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I switched to HDV a year or more ago. I’m waiting for my Intensity shuttle to come in, which let’s you capture direct from the imager, before the HDV compression takes place. HDV has it;s limitations. It’ll capture 8 or 10 bit uncompressed or Lossless Motion JPEG. I do alot of chromakeying and caan’t wait to see the difference. The shuttle is only 199$

You can Rottoscope with After Effects, but that is like keyframing a mask in Vegas, very time comsuming. There is luma keying, which I believe can key out very bright or dark backgrounds, but other than that, your stuck with a time consuming job as far as I know. Unless someone else has an idea on how to do this easier. Danny Hays

Try setting your project settings to field order, Progressive, de-interlace method, Interpolate. Then right click on your video event, properties, media tab, field order, upper or lower field field first, which ever looks best. this should get rid of your interlace lines. Also render as progressive. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I believe I have even opened a Vegas 9 file with Vegas 8 once, but it gave me a warning that some things (can’t remember exactly what)may not work. Danny Hays

You can turn on ripple edit, or I would select all the videos you want to “merge” and hit the “G” key to group them. Now they will all move as one event. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Maybe Sony was too quick in releasing the new 9e but it’s still the best in my opinion. I have tried most others, Media composer, Final Cut and I can work circles around those with Vegas. And you don’t need external hardware to get full functionality from the software like some others. I also have a Sony HDV camera and for the price, it’s a fantastic camera. It smokes my Canon GL1, which I don’t even turn on anymore. Step back to 9c until these issues are fixed. If there some other specific issues your having with Vegas, post them here and maybe we can help you through them.
If there was one thing I wish Vegas Pro had that it doesn’t, it would be a decent keyer. If it had that, I would almost never have to leave the app, even for audio. Vegas was audio only at first and is a great multi track audio editor, which supports direct-x and vst pluggins. With FCP and Avid, It’s pretty much expected to use a different app for your audio. -

Click on the pan and crop icon in the track header of the clip you want in the corner, shrink and position it where you want it, and if there’s a transparent alpha channel, right click on the video event and click properties, then in the media tab drop the alpha channel down to straight (unmatted).
