You can’t open more than one timeline in an instance of Vegas, but you can open several instances of Vegas, and copy from one to another. Also you can “Nest” a Vegas file and import it into another timline. Do a search for nesting in tne help file. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I think you may get smaller file size with MP4 and keep the HD quality. Look at 1080P youtube videos, their usualy great quality and their MP4 format, and streamable. Or experiment rendering a 1440 x 1080 wmv, 5 minutes, and drop the bitrate until you get the file size needed. 1440 x 1080 has less pixels and will be smaller than 1920 x 1080, as 1440 x 1080 pixels are not square, 1.333 x 1 where 1920 x 1080 has more pixels, square. Don’t think you’ll get an .mov small enough (file size) and still keep good HD quality.

Granted, there was no real white in that flower, and one click gave me that key. Here’s alot harded one where I had to tweek it, still not perfect but it will depend on how much white is in your clip.

I would try keying out the pink, set tight to that specific shade as to not keyout skin, but without making the pink totally transparent so you still see the sweater texture, then add a color to mix with the remaing pink in the track under to get the color you want.

If your using CS5, you could try the Premiere pluggin Ultra. When it was stand alone I was able to get a good key on almost anything, and it may give you a tighter color selection, and leave the bright object alone. Worth a try. Danny Hays

You could duplicate the tracks into as many pieces you want it to breakup into, then mask out all but a different piece on each track, then keyframe each piece moving out, simulating it breaking up with track motion, setting each track to 3D Source Alpha to give it a 3D look as it’s breaking up. Alot of work but it could be done this way. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Also if you have alot of space and alot of good lighting,if you know how to backlight and eliminate spill, and don’t need shadows, you can use the chromakey pluggin in vegas. Danny -
I,m using Motion JPEG wich doesn’t need a raid. I don’t use Vegas for my keying as there is no spill supression. I use Ultra 2 or Keylight in After Effects to key, then bring into Vegas to arange. The best way I know to get a real looking key, with great shadows is Keylight. Check out this video tutorial. This keylight pluggin can be used in the timeline and seveeral instances of it too. Very slow to preview but with practice, it can look very real. Danny
