If I’m not mistaken, Vegas doesn’t have an H.264 export preset.

I have the Presounus Firepod, which is now the FP10. It has 8 xlr in and out, spdif in and out, Phantom power for just four or all eight inputs, plus two of the inputs can be used as instrument inputs. this important if you want to plug a guitar straight into it, as the impedance will match an instrument pluggin like Amplitube ot Guitar rack, ect. AND it can also be used as an eight channel stand alone mixer. Very versital unit. I love it. It’s a single rack space sized unit and has good quality preamps. It’s more than 300$ but they make a firebox for about that.

I would only use the Chromakey in Vegas to key a graphics logo for a corner bug or logo with a trasparent alpha channel, I use Ultra for shots with the subject in the final video only once and don’t need shadows. It does have shadows but their not that great. I will use Keylight in AE for full body shots with shadows as it has virtual lights and cameras and can make the most convincing keys with shadows that I have found. I just wanted to show Vegas can key with perfect lighting.

I made a 720p 60 fps mpg from 14,000 Targa files from a high end DVS server. Vegas has a double ntsc 59.94 setting in the project settings, which I used and the video turned out great. I didn’t try 30 fps since I had 60 pics per sec to work with. Yu can test your questions with small samples to see what you get, or just use double ntsc, as I know it works. I can render 720p 60 fps and 1080 30p and both played the right speed and audio was perfectly in sync with video on both renders. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Correct me if I’m wrong but Boris only gives you one frame to set your key to, and isn’t like a realtime pluggin. I do wish Vegas’s Chromakeyer had spill suppresion, but with the correct lighting and enough space between your subject and the green or blue screen to eliminate spill, it is usable. Hete’s an example of just that.

I don’t recall Vegas having that text effect, but you could render just the media generated text you want to unfold as uncompressed with alpha, then import that video back in, set that track to “3D Source Alpha”, Then right click on that video event, properties, media, and set the alpha channel to “straight (unmatted), so Vegas recognizes the transparent alpha channel, then keyframe the movement to look the same as in the YouTube video.

It looks like more than one frame out by the youtube vid. I would select both the audio and video tracks, hit the “U” key to unlock them and move the spike to the clap hit and see what that looks like.

OK, I finally got the Shuttle to capture 720 60p, or 59.97, can’t remember, I tried so many other 1080p framerates without success, through the HDMI today at work. I don’t have alot of HDMI sources to experiment with at home but at work we use use these inexpensive servers for less significant places we need HD video as they will lockup from time to time, but I can load various framerate 1080 and 720 mpegs on it and test the Shuttle with an HDMI connection. i will experiment more as time permits and post my findings here.
Still, for fast moving video that looks jumpy at 1080 30p or 720 60p that looks much smoother, I’ll take the 720 60p anyday, as long as I don’t have to put it on a large projection screen. Here’s some pics of the little inexpensive server. Brighsign HD1010 Roku.Danny Hays, Universal Orlando

Also if you click on the file in the project media tab, it tells you the format and lenth at the bottom of the project media tab. In the same way, in the exporer tab, files that are not even in your project yet work the same way but in the bottom of the explorer tab. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Yes Vegas is a non distructive program as are most now days. Any small clip from the trimmer, or cutout with the s key will expand, (Drag the edges) out to the full original clip, then repeat where you see a small indent on top of th clip. The trimmer and split feature only reference which part of the clip to play. The whole clip is there on all peices, unless you render a new small clip as a new file. Danny Hays
