quess you beet me to it John, LOL Actually your way, adding a keyframe after each stich would be easier. Good idea. danny

It looks like your keyframing size instead of position, as the stitching gets bigger as it gets longer. You could keyframe position by starting with it off the screen and moving onto the screen. It still wont look like it’s stitching unless the movement speed and framrate synced up so the exsisting stitches appeared to stay in the same place.
Another idea is to use the standard text with alph,”Chechardboard background” and add one – and with the preview window set to full best, click the little floppy disc icon and take a picture. Do this after each – is added, then with a new project, place each picture on the timeline , with the lenth of about three frames each, butted up next to eachother. this would look like ten stiches per second were being stitched. Render out as uncompressed with alpha, to retain the transparent background. Then use track motion to put the new stiching clip where you want. You can add them to another track and in track motion, turn it 90 deg for the virtical stitches. This will make both horizontal and virtical the samw size.

That would be about the best laptop you could get for Sony Vegas. The quad core, dual thread, will show 8 processors. If it has an HDMI and VGA out like the F series, you can connect your HDTV and use it as an external monitor. You may even be able to connect another VGA monitor as well, not sure if it will let you use both HDMI and VGA as a secondary Windows monitor at the same time. I’ve had a Sony Vaio laptop for about ten years with a firewire input and have Used Vegas on it since it first started editing video, version 3 or 4. It was audio only at first. It’s only a 1.2 single core an can capture DV and HDV. It has never failed me so I would recommend the new Vaio i7 in a heartbeat. It’s actually getting difficult to even find a laptop with IEEE-1394 firewire ports anymore. You will be happy with it I’m sure. Best Buy should sell them and if for some reason you didn’t like it, you can return it within 14 days with just a re-stocking fee, although I don’t forsee you doing that.

If your going to edit it in the future, I would keep it in it’s original format since drive space is cheap now days. If no editing later, .WMV highest preset setting, 1920 – 1080 8 mbps. Or Vegas has an .MP4 HD render preset for high quality, low size, good for Internet streaming. Danny Hays

Is “render looped section only” checked in your “render as” window? If not check it and select the whole project or the portion you want in the rendered video by dragging the yellow triangles at the top of the timeline to the start and end time you want and try rendering again. MXF, AVI, ect, They are just containers that can contain many different types of files. In your Vegas preferences, there’s an option to “no recompression on long GOP structure”. That’s probably checked and That’s fine, good actually. You probably won’t see a difference in the editing ability since it didn’t recompress. If your system will edit MP4 smooth enough, I would not convert before editing as everytime you convert, “recompress”, it takes a quality hit. If you have to convert to edit, I would render as uncompressed, or YUV at the same resolution as your source file. Then edit and render to your desired format for delivery. Try putting the DVD in your computer DVDROM and navigate to it with that feature in Vegas. You can also copy the .vob files from the DVD to your hard drive, change the extention to .mpg and edit them that way. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I havent seen an effect like that in any program. You could have a camera and the cloth you want to stitch mounted so they dont move and take a picture every stitch or two as you do the real stitching and add them with a duration that will give you the look as if it’s being stitched. the length of a pic added to the timeline by default is 5 seconds I think but you can change that. The chromakey pluggin will only work if the original sky is all blue, without clouds, and If you have clouds in the original video, you will need to rotoscope, mask with alot of keyframes. Can you post a small clip or pic of the original clip?

A compressor plugin will do it. You can raise the quiet parts and not the louder parts.
There’s aready one by default in each audio track in Sony Vegas. Try the 4:1 – 10:1 presets and let us know what you think.
