I don’t know if you can edit without any stuttering in the preview window set at best, full with AVCHD, but Vegas Pro 10 makes use of the Cuda core, NVidia GEForce cards. I can get pretty smooth previews with my i7, 920 6 gig ram Windows 7 64 bit with a low end NVidia card running Vegas Pro 10.

Jeff, Are you running Vegas Pro 10? If so do those particular NVidia cards Have the Cuda based GPU and do you have Vegas using it yet? There’s several people that would like to see someone using the GPU cards and tell us the difference in render speeds, preview frame refresh ect… Thanks, Danny Hays

I’ve found the main differences is more AVCHD support, Stereoscopic editing (3D) and my favorite new function “Image stabilizer”. That alone is worth the 130$ Danny Hays

I hope you mean a 80 gig solid state for the OS, and I would not get the ATI card, but a NVidea with Cuda based GPU video card. These cards are supported with Vegas 10 Pro and for the first time, Vegas uses GPU on a video card. also get a second sata hard drive and capture and store all your media on it. Not good to use the same hard drive for your media and the OS. Other than that the machine is almost the same as mine. Danny Hays, Universal Studios, FL

I have the shuttle, not the Intensity pro card, but they both use Media Express software to capture as well as some NLE’s capture like Premiere and Finalcut.
I believe it does capture as MJPEG (the compressed format from Blackmagic)as it Shows it it’s comparison chart to the Shuttle here.https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/techspecs/
Scroll down to the chart, Processing and extras and it’ll also show which PCI Express slot, lane required. It doesn’t support as many HD formats as the shuttle, higher on the chart shows you this.

If you haven’t bought the shuttle yet, maybe the card will work with what you have. Just has pigtails instead of a nice pretty box.

I would use C for your OS only,#2 for your media and #3 for backup of the media and .veg files, incase #2 dies. Safe way to edit. Danny Hays

What kind of sound card are you using? Is it showing up in your, options, Preferences, audio tab? Select the asio for your card if it’s available and relaunch or reboot, and see if this helps, Danny Hays

Since your MOBO has the p55 chipset and you have that Asus USB card, the shuttle should work. You can capture to one drive as Blackmagic motion JPEG, and it still looks great and edits well too. Make sure you follow the instructions and update the NEC firmware for the USB card like it states in the Shuttle pdf manual. I have the Shuttle and used the ASUS P6X58D Premium Mobo, which already had the USB ports. But I have since bought a Panasonic HDC-TM700 which captures to 1080 60p where I was capturing straight from the imager off a Sony HVR-A1 as the motion jpeg avi 4.2.2 color space and bypassing the HDV encoder and the 4.2.0 color space. It worked great, but the quality from the TM700 surpasses it by far. I probably wont be using the sony unless I need a second camera and it’s a hoome studio session since I have to have the computer there with the Shuttle.

Yes, Why don’t you try Streamclip? It’ll recognise most any type of file, and you can convert it to avi or something else you can edit.

It must be a Pro thing, at least where it is, mask is right under position on mine. have you opened the help file for yours and search for mask? hard to believe it wouldn’t have it somewhere. Danny Hays
