pro-res hq didn’t help. Interesting note, when the clips are imported into MC6 the durations are much longer than the actual clip length.

I use my laptop with a lacie sata II expresscard 34 in the express card slot and a Addonics AEPDDESU card reader with an sata port, I have 64 gig cards and can dump them to the laptop in about 20 minutes.

I upgraded the internal HD on the laptop to a 750gig version so I have plenty of temporary internal storage.

After the shoot I connect the laptop to my desktop as a firewire drive and transfer all the shoot footage to my raid.

I am not removing the cards when I get the error message. Merely turning the unit off and then back on.

I should not have to unmount a card before I power down right? How about building a “small directory error” correction routine into the software program?

I have FCP 7 and MC5.5 loaded on the same computer. FCP has Boris BCC plugins and so does MC. It’s not like I haven’t had MC give me a beach ball on occasion but I wouldn’t blame it on the 2 apps. I did a 12 minute piece using dozens of hours of footage that I AMAed into MC and never bothered to consolidate. I think this is more likely the cause of the occasional beach ball. It was not enough to warrant any drastic action other than a force quit and restart.

The Avid website is the reason I didn’t include the link in my reply. I found it last week when I was trying to link to avchd, but couldn’t find it again when i responded to you. I have now started to bookmark places I might want to visit again.

The only AMA plugin pre-loaded in MC 5.5 is the one for Quicktime ProRes. The other plugins (panny P2 sony, canon, etc.) are available for download from the Avid support site.
