THanks Andrew. That’s a great idea. Will give that a go.
Much appreciated!

My comp is base on Andrew Kramer’s original light streaks comp. He explains in it that increasing the comp frame rate is the only way around it. He however creates a precomp that retains the original frame settings.
Is the great KRAMER wrong?? The world will crumble!

Hi Mikes
Thanks for that. I’ve seen Dan’s page before but had forgotten it. Definately some useful stuff in there but I’m trying something else now….though not sure if Dan’s approach will still work.
I’m trying to create a similar effect to the Card Wipe transition but in 3d. Card wipe uses a 2d / 3d simulation thing which isn’t right for this project. I have floor plates & Wall plates [in 3d] which are from photographs. Rather than cut them up and animate each tile with parenting and a delay I’m wondering if there is a simple way to do what Card Wipe does but with all correct 3d interaction / lights / camera etc.
I also wanted to use this approach on a series of high rise building shots that I’ll be etching out. However this will be a bit different as some of the shots have alot of perspective. I was thinking of building each face of the building but if I can’t set a kind of vanishing point it won’t look great. Photoshop has that great Vanishing point tool but if I have to create each building this way it will take forever.
Any ideas?

A huge thanks for that Dan! That is awesome. I have been looking for a way to do this for ages. Unfortunately my ability with expressions is pretty limited.
This forum is always such a great source of help!
Thanks again to all! -

Hi Guys
Thanks for the suggestions. You guys are always helpful and Andrew, your tutes are great. Hope they’re paying you the big bucks!
Had a look at the two suggestions but Dan’s expession entry was a bit beyond me and Andrew, your tute isn’t exactly what I mean.
There is a great experimental project by MK12:
https://media2.mk12.com/v5_qt_html/2001/infinity.html
that does exacly what I mean and I can’t work out how they’ve done it. It is best displayed at 1’37” where as the camera moves we can see the radioactive guy is actually shattered over the Z axis. It doesn’t appear any of the layers are moving so how does everything match so perfectly. I’ve come close by manually moving sections and merely eyeballing it but nothing close to this degree. It is obviously easier with less z movement and a less distorted lense but there must be an easy way of doing this.
There is some great 3d stuff in the clip but it is this 2d/3d technique that is the most interesting.
