Lights will cast a shadow but this will have the same effect as trying to match things up with the mock shadow I described ie: because the lion’s back legs are on a different plane in the shot, the shadow cast will only connect with whatever is touching the ground plane.

I don’t think there really is a solution for this. It really comes done to shooting things right on bluescreen from the outset. Unfortunately the director hasn’t done much of this sort of thing.

I’d just like tyo know what everyone else usually does with this type of thing.

    Thanks Kurt

It’s a really annoying oversight. Hope there’s a new Invig on it’s way soon

You’re not supposed to need one with the KONA. It has one built in.

    Thanks for the Help Guys.

I guess an external TBC is the way to go. I was under the assumption the LH had one built in for this sort of thing though. Bummer.

Thanks Matt. Good to know I’m not going nuts.
With the Alpha Channel method you described…I’m only using reflection map on a material for this. Will the method you descibed still work?

Other wise I’ll have to do a prerender.

It’s weird though that OPEN GL still renders insides though. I suppose the optimisation you did was only on the INVIG renderer.

Also is there a 5.0 in the pipeline?

    Cheers

    Thanks Matt.

It is a pretty intensive project. A large AE comp that pans across 10 separate INVIG comps with a few 3d models in each. They need to be a distance from each other and having together was affecting the shadow map rez. I guess that is a Gig of RAM dedicated to Invig isn’t it? I was thinking of breaking each out into a separate project for speed. What do you think?

Thanks for the offer of rendering but the project has some confidentiality issues. You guys do a great job with support there!

    Thanks!

PS: I know you can’t give me a straight answer of this but will there be any chance of a new version with Depth of Field worked in? Would really make INVIG even better though I imagine this was left out for speed and simplicity?
