Just export to a Quicktime Movie from FCP using the ‘Current Settings’ Then use either Quicktime Pro to ‘present’ this movie at ‘Full Screen’ (Look under the View menu) This will hide your desktop completely. You could also use VLC.
Exporting to the Animation CODEC is pointless, it won’t add any quality.

Easiest and safest method on Windows is to open up each custom preset in Squeeze and you’ll find an Export button. Save the Exported settings to somewhere safe and simply import them in to the newly installed Squeeze

In order of quality I’d have to say:
Equal 1st – CinemaCraft and Scenarist
2nd Bitvice
3rd Compressor
4th Digital RapidsYou did miss out one however and that’s Carbon Coder, the speed and quality of its MPEG-2 output when set to ‘Mastering Quality’ mode is stunning.
However there are many other factors to take into consideration when choosing an encoder and depending on your priorities and workflow preferences the order of the above would change completely.

Actually MPEG-1 allows for any frame size up to 4096×4096, its just that most encoding packages limit you to those constrained parameters like frame size and pixel aspect ratio. The only reason for this is to get over limitations with Windows Media Prayer. Quicktime has no problem playing back any sized MPEG-1 file.
Yet another occasion where Windows ruins it for the rest of us.
If you want to encode to ‘odd’ sized MPEG-1 frames, cleaner from Autodesk will do the job for you.
Otherwise, as Rich pointed out look at WMV or indeed Flash, both can be better quality than MPEG-1.

That’s the output frame size (Found under the ‘video’ tab), set it to a value that’s divisible by 16.

Export from FCP to Quicktime using your ‘current sequence settings’. (You’ll see that in the export dialog box)
Choose a 60 or 90 minute preset in compressor.
Like anything Apple, really really simple.

The Cinemacraft technology is capable of producing excellent, professional quality results, however as with any professional level product it requires that all the settings are understood in depth and how the adjustment of parameters effects the final output.
Although Cinemacraft may claim ‘Hollywood perfect’output, that assumes you have ‘Hollywood quality’ input, DVCPRO HD ain’t anywhere near ‘Hollywood quality’ i.e Film or something like RED. That said it should still give you great quality results.
It’s nearly always best to give an encoder the high quality source file, that does not mean an up-converted file like you get if you convert DVCPRO HD to Uncompressed, or Animation. By all means convert between LongGOP and I-Frame only to ease the workload the transcoder needs to do, but don’t expect higher quality results from that conversion.
Its also very very rarely necessary to interlace progressive footage. If your source has been shot or has been created as progressive, then it should be left like that and obviously no deinterlacing should be applied during the transcode.
