Storage is cheap; archive the SD in the same format it was acquired anything else will ruin it for archive purposes.

Keep in mind that the Animation codec is only lossless when the setting is set to “Best” or 100% quality. Holds an 8-bit alpha channel but is limited to 32-bit rendering. This codec does encode and decode quickly though.

Don’t use QT, use a proper transcoder like Episode or compressor

You will not be able to find a coding application that can report timings correctly. They all use estimates with some guesswork – it’s impossible to be accurate.
