I have never heard of a “J” cut. What you talkin bout willis???????

It was just the latest update to 10.5.6. Everything worked swimmingly fine before that. Make the update and now its funky. Also my AE seems to be a bit funky. No adaptive image preview. I have never Rebuilt my startup disk. Is there something on line to show me whats involved with that???

WHen you make a path with the pen tool it gives you a solid one line path. When you make an outline of a font you the the inside path and the outside path. That creates two lines when stroked in AE. Its like drawing the stroke around the font instead of drawing the font. I am begining to think its not possible with out going to the pen tool.

It Does work well, but It makes a double sided outline that when I stroke it actually goes around the font twice. I would like to make a single stroke if possible without doing it manually. Yes I want to cheat. My client says it looks OK but I dont like it. Thanks Arie.

I agree on the perfect sync thing. Maybe one percent of all the people who ever see it will ever now the difference, and less than that if it cut in a quick shot style. As for importing and exporting clips to work with I think the main thing is to get your setting set right. Export using 601 or RGB color settings and importing them back the same way. That way you can matdh cut with an effect shot and not see color shifts, Unless you want to use that as an effect. Hey anything is possible. as far as tips. every system will have its own quirks, get to know them and good luck.

When you unarchive, do you just reimport the footage from the master P2 files and they link up. That would be great.

I have found that Large images like those made by a digital med format camera can bog down FCP.
I have always made them smaller say from 4500×4500 to 1000×1000 or whatever and saved them as PNG files. PNGs are small and god looking and can still be 150 dpi or 300 dpi. They look very nice.

Jessus, All these stories are right on the money i have a few of my own( we should all get together and do a book) Just remember….The “GOOD” editor and the one who will continue to work is the one who can wade thru all this BS and deliver the project as close to budget and on time as possible.

Well i figured it out. If you uncheck the “remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames” checkbox
