Hi, a photographer wants to send me over some photo files. Hes using a medium format camera and says the file per photo is 20 megs.
He wants to know what type of file to send so I can match the EX1 1080p footage.
Normally I ask for JPEG best 300 DPI. But with this HD footage I’m not sure.
Could someone enlighten me? I might do some Ken Burns moves on some.

I’m on FCP 6.0.5 . I’m think the best setting to edit this footage set in the editing sequence preset, is ProRes 422 HQ 1920x 1080p 30 48hz (any thoughts on that too)

Starting to work again. Feel a bit rusty but grateful.
    Cheers

    Peter

I have found that Large images like those made by a digital med format camera can bog down FCP.
I have always made them smaller say from 4500×4500 to 1000×1000 or whatever and saved them as PNG files. PNGs are small and god looking and can still be 150 dpi or 300 dpi. They look very nice.
    This is just my experience.

A cut is a cut & a dissolve is a disolve, and not just anybody with a system is a pro.

    Hi Peter,
Forget about “dpi’s”. That is OK when scanning or printing. What you need to think about is pixels-high x pixels-wide.
Sure you will need something bigger than 1920 x 1080 if you go to animate the pictures. But as Dan says the bigger the picture the more problematic will be for FC to manage them. So do them bigger but the less possible.
Another think that Dan points is the format. PNG should work better than JPEG. PNG is an uncompress format so FC don’t need to de-compress to process. Less work to do so better for FC.

Yes. I would use that sequence settings
