I disagree, rendering 720p in a 1080 tiimeline looks jittery, unacceptable. Easiest solution is to use the 1200A deck which is fine but KONA2 should do the cross convert, I believe decklink does.

OK, so without the DVCPROHD deck or resizing in an HDCAM timeline this CANNOT be done????

PS. Thanks for the quick response….

5.02 on G5 and 5.02&5.03 on G4
this has happened with fcp4.5 from time to time as well.

Hi,
If you go to the following website, it gives instructions for successful onlining in Final Cut Pro. Several users have mentioned that MM does not handle some “speed changes” or “reverse” action. This is true. The program costs $1000. It actually has a media manager which does work when your offline media is still online. One thousand bucks. That’s pretty impressive. So you have a few speed clips or reverse clips or maybe a dozen other tweaks to make. Isn’t that what onlining is. It is hard to compare a $1000 program with an Avid or Media 100. There are reasons these systems cost more, they are more RELIABLE. But, we can all admit that FCP works really well for what is and it allows most of us to afford the equipment we need to stay in business.
Read the following link, keeo your offline media online until your project is done and just deal with tweaking the few clips you need to in order to endure that your project sings.

Hi,
Two things. One pertains to all Firewire Drives and the other specifically to Lacie. The Lacie drives work fine and are worth their money.
1. All Firewire Drives recommend leaving 30% free space on the drive. If you go beyond that there is risk for problems.
2. Lacie drives in particular do not have cooling fans in their housings. Keep them in a well ventilated area and use a small 4″-6″ clip on fan if necessary to keep its’ temperature down.
Pura Vida,

It only needs to conform during an “edit to tape”. A straight play off the timeline to HDCAM tape looks superb, no conforming or rendering.

September 16, 2005 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Any trick in getting HDV to stop conforming when outputting through Kona 2?Hi,
I have a similar problem. I can edit a HDV timeline and play out real-time through Kona2 as I am editing, but when I go to do an “edit to tape” to a SONY HDW-500 HDCAM deck FCP wants to conform the timeline before output. My Timeline is a “HDV1080i60” and my Easy Setups is “KONA2 1080i 29.97 8bit”. Is this the correct easy setup???
Did you guys agree that an actual “edit to tape” could not be performed in the scenario without the use of an AJA Io as well???
Thanks,

Hi,
I know that is true for the analog outputs (composite and S video) but how about through firewire????

Holy Cow (no pun intended)
Thankyou so much for your prompt reply , I’m not really that shocked , but how psyched am I that you guys are experiencing the same problem and are going to address as quick as you can.
WOW, Luke. $ Decklink systems is what I have and counting. Thankyou for the continuing support.
I will be able to answer questions as to # of output channels later this week, early next week.
Thanks again,
Craig
