Thanks. This will give us 4 synced channels. The sound devices mixer/recorder is still on wish list. I’ll research some more on what gear to add so we can record sound to the mixer recorder and be in sync with multiple cams.

This gets to the core of a thread I was having with Ty about calibrating the mixer to the camcorder and what base level would usable. Ty would not answer directly and if I am understanding your comment correctly explains why.
If you were in a sound proof room and recorded any sound that registered at the lowest possible point on an audio meter, if there was no competing sounds at all (including camera noise), are you saying in theory, that if you then boosted that sound in post the result would be perfectly acceptable?

The OP seemed a bit more frustrated than a couple of extra files being written to the system drive.

Have you ever looked into how many files MS Office creates?
But yeah didn’t address the specific question and thought it was a more basic question and that these remnants were mentioned only because he thought he had moved the projects and events folders wholesale and wondered if these need to be on the system drive.
Considering that I have every intention of reformatting a system drive if it ever gets muddy or needs a major update with a complete reinstall, it’s a valid concern. I also suspect that if one were real careful in always selecting a non-system drive to save projects and events to, and the original projects and events folders were deleted from the system drive, you might be able to not see them reappear. Not sure. I did try this after moving a project to my media drive and erasing the system drive projects folder. It worked. No new projects folder. But I have not tried adding an effect. The original poster is correct, it’s a bit messy. Considering the rumor is that Apple will be merging the projects and events libraries, this too shall pass (maybe).
Still the OP seemed more frustrated than curious.

I don’t know. I just checked a project I have that still works including “share” options and the original media in the event folder shows renamed clips using dates and I don’t see the difference.
Not sure I get the difference or advantages of archiving vs just coping the camcorder files to the finder. Think I’ll start a new post for that.

I have a few of these and they are very versatile, easy to handle, and just a great sounding mike. Get a nice shock mount with them. I have used them for dialog and at this forums advice to mike guitars and the sound recorded was great.

Have not used the Audix SCX1HC but the AT is only $100 more.

If you are right however and it’s a corrupted database this tutorial will show you how to repair it (maybe):
What I do is create a folder and name it and copy my entire P2 card folders to this folder on the finder level. Then I have FC import from this folder, not the card. Now I have the original files and the FC files and can back up either or both if the project is important.

Particularly for those that want or need to play under the hood a bit.

Do a search for the media on the finder level and find out where the files reside on your system and in what form.
“I imported media from folders on a disc.”
Is the disc still mounted?
