Holy smokes! That’s awesome! Maybe too awesome…

It worked perfectly but because of the poor nature of my drawing it’s realy, really funny. I’ll work out the rest of the camera moves and stuff and see how it looks by the end.

I’ll try to remember to post a clip if it turns out.

    Thanks.

Can you put up an example of one of the shots you’re working on? There’s a couple different potential scenarios for knock outs, Some would be easier than others depending on what the original shot looks like.

Thanks so much for the help guys. I tried it both ways and wound up retrying what I was doing before.

I’ve got 4 items placed in a circle (square) around the center mark from the top view. I’ve got a null spinning a camera with 24mm lens around the whole deal and Dan Ebbert’s Auto Y expression. Seems to be working pretty good. I’m not sure what I changed from before but I’ll try to remember to post the video when I’m done.

    That’s about it.

I have some trouble with vanishing point too. It never seems to come out as anything manageable once I get the .vpe into AE.

Could you just duplicate the layer and then rotate the one layer flat (or nearly)? Then the floor part would have the perspective and when you pushed the back wall or whatever down the Z you’d have the depth. If they lined up right you wouldn’t even have to mask anything.

That would only give you two planes, but I’m not sure how complicated you want the backgrounds to be.

That sounds good to me. Unless it’s compressing the video again, but it’s already DV when it comes out of my camera, so…

Thanks for finding the work around

I’m still using workarounds as well. Still on CS3, but I’m using OnLocation on my MacBook Pro (booted to Win). With OnLocation recording directly to disk, there’s no problem with big clips. I know you can’t record to the laptop when you’re running around, but it works great in the studio.

To tell you the truth, I’ve gotten so used to CS3 that I don’t’ even notice the weird stuff anymore.

Can you do this with a different layer controlling the rotation?

So layer 1 is a background, layer two is some lines, and layer three is some text. Layers two and three have drop shadows and are parented to layer one for rotating and scaling and stuff. So I’d like layer one’s rotation to control the other layer’s drop shadows.

    Thanks
