  • Ok, I found it. Under “More Options” there’s “Grouping Alignment”. You change the Y axis to a negative number, I used -100%.

Now I’m headed over to the expressions forum to find out how to make them swing.

I bet they used the Video Copilot product Evolution. It’s a bunch of flourish elements with a revealer tool. It’s really cool. Many of those flourishes look just like the ones on Andrew Kramer’s promo for the product.
It’s pretty freakin’ cool, and it’s only about $100. Check it out:

(I don’t work there, I just read the blog)

I used the regular track like you suggested and it’s much better. It’s still not perfect, a little jittery, but it doesn’t need to be exact.

Let’s say I did want it perfect though. The jitter seems to be about 1-2 pixels. How do you set up your tracking options? I imagine there’s some subtlety there that takes years of experience to finesse.

  • I’ve used this one from Dan Eberts’ site several times. I love his site. I don’t know anything about expressions but I rarely have a project that doesn’t have at least something that I learned here.

November 25, 2008 at 3:19 pm in reply to: Exporting a .WMV on a Mac with Production Premium CS3

I forgot to finish up here, sorry.

I did the same, upgraded to QT Pro. I thought there’d be an export option in Premiere and AE but it’s just in QT. I’ve been exporting Quicktime movies from Premiere and making .wmvs in QT Pro for months now and it’s been working great. Especially the speed. Quicktime is way faster at exporting it seems.

    So, anyway, happy customer here.

You know what, it was the override, whatever that is. All of the override windows on all the buttons were set to “Chapter Selection Menu 1”. I deleted all of them and now it works fine. It was only effecting that one chapter though, that was weird.

I’ve learned a ton about Encore though. I even made totally custom motion menus that match the opening sequence to the award presentation. I’m awesome.

    Thanks for your help Joe.

I’m sorry my message isn’t more clear, I barely understand what’s going on myself, I’m very new to Encore.

I have a chapter button linked to the final part of a presentation, approx. 5 min before the end of that timeline. But instead of going to that part of the video it goes to a different chapter menu. The end action is set for the Main Menu.

    Yes, “Main Menu:Default”

September 30, 2008 at 1:59 pm in reply to: How to handle HDV in PPro?

The thing is, I captured the bulk of the material with OnLocation directly onto a hard drive, so it’s not on tape. I can’t down convert with the deck.
I think I may have figured it out though. If I start a new HDV 1080i project and do nothing but bring in one clip, drop it in the sequence and export movie using the default DV setting, then I think I’ll have a usable Quicktime file when I’m done.

    Thanks, that’s what I thought.
I always like to check first, just incase the answer is, “Yes, you just do this, and this.”
