October 15, 2010 at 9:09 pm in reply to: audio plugins for mixing music on FCP

I believe some of the izotope plugs work in FCP (Ozone specifically.) I had some installed in Protools and they would show up in FCP and Soundtrack Pro aswell. Rebuilt my system a month or so back and haven’t reinstalled them yet so i can’t verify,, but am 90% certain they work in FCP.

For a cheap and dirty echo/delay in FCP: dupe your track and off set it by 1 fame, then again and again.. each time lowering the gain and reach time sliding by 1 or 2 frames.
Also EQ out some of the lows and /or mids on each instance slightly increasing/decreasing some of the frequencies.
or for funky delay boost specific frequencies on some of the instances.

OR better yet.. spend 5 minutes playing with Soundtrack Pro and open yourself up to soooo many more possibilities. It’s not too hard a program to grasp.

Some of the 23″ HD Cinema displays flicker a touch when multiple windows are overlapping on the screen. Not sure if this was an issue with any of the 30 inchers.

I have 2 23″ displays purchased 6 months apart from each other. One is afflicted with this issue, the other not.

You can set up custom workspace arrangements and assign them each to custom hotkeys. Look under the windows layouts dropdown.

I’ve been using a Mackie Control Universal Pro for the passed 4-5 years.
    Solid construction.
I’ve been using it heavily in FCP, Soundtrack Pro, and Pro Tools and it still performs just like it did the day I got it.

Have you updated any plugin packs since this project was last opened? If so, and your clips referencing those plugins, you may need to re-apply them.
I have seen this cause some funk once or twice before.

    Great!
    Thanks Nick.

I was connecting the card via the express slot on the side of my Macbook Pro, not sure if that would make a difference.
I’m guessing it was the naming convention that was screwing me over… There was no mention of that in the XDCam software guide I was using for reference!

    Cheers,

Work around was using the eX-3 as an HDV stream recorder via the firewire port…
Unfortunately this means creating a HDV timeline, rendering and conforming the footage, and recording only in SP mode to the camera.

It works for now.. But I’d much rather put the files back on the SxS card in the HQ full raster format…
If anybody has had success doing this I’d love to hear about it! As i mentioned in posts above, I tried the export to xdcam function from FCP to the SxS card and the media created would not playback once back in the camera….

(If you’re wondering why would I want to go back to the camera, I’m on the road working on a few projects and a broadcast truck needed some footage I had on my drives. Without a HD deck, the only way they could get the footage was via the SDI port on the ex-3, so i had to get the footage they needed onto the camera so they could ingest via SDI) A Ki-Pro would have been very handy to have for this….

I’ve tried Export to XDCam using the 1080i60 ex setting. This creates the correct mp4 file.. but when i put the card back in the ex-3 the clip doesn’t show up in the media browser….
