November 23, 2010 at 2:14 am in reply to: LIve Trace in Illustrator — DO I HAVE THE OPTIONIn Adobe Dimensions, you had the choice to trace with the result of a center line,( single path). I cannot find any such option in live trace. When I try to trace a line drawing I get closed paths around the lines no matter what parameters I use. Was this feature excluded from live trace? I still have my dimensions but it certainly would make life easier if I could do this in AI 3.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I did check and no I did not have any noise effect. I decided to re-do the entire project. When I rendered it through media encoder the second time it took 2 and 1/2 hours. I tried to find the problem in the original but I had to fly blind. I must have set something without knowing it. It really makes me angry that Adobe ships the program without any manual or help file. clearly The web based help is a nightmare and utterly useless. Premiere Pro CS4 is the last program I will purchase from Adobe. A program is useless without a manual. The best online training in the world is not a substitute for a manual with a good index.
I rendered the original captured file through Encore CS4 and it took only 1 hour 32 minutes. The DVD did “stick” on a frame for a short time. Not sure why. Might be timecode error but non were reported during the capture.
Thanks,
Clif

I appreciate your info. I think I will do as you suggest for now. I was just surprised that it took so long. The capture was real time. I did not expect rendering to be real time, I know better but 8 1/2 hours seemed a little long. But what is is.
Thanks,

I appreciate your response,
The source was a standard NTSC DV .avi Premiere capture. No blur but I did use color correction and the audio was changed by adding audio to the right track. Nothing else.
If this is normal, what can I do to speed it up?

Hi Stephen,
I had the same problem under XP Pro SP2. I believe it was created by RegCure which removed the flt.dll file. FTL.dll is a Removal Description library. With it gone, I could not remove or reinstall my original AfterFX CS3. The only solution was to use two programs, Microsoft “Cleanup,” miscuu2.exe and Adobe’s wincs3cean.zip. You do not need to run miscuu2.exe. It is required by Adobe’s wincs3clean to run. Run wincs3clean at least 2 times to make sure all files are removed. Then restart and try to install AfterFX CS3. This fixed the problem for me. The side effect of running wincs3clean is that it uninstalls “ALL” Adobe CS3 programs. I had to install my other CS3 programs but that was necessary to fix the FLT.dll problem.I hope this helps you. Adobe technical deserves credit for this solution. They were very helpful.

I just bought a new Vaio and Photoshop CS2 works just fine. Try uninstalling through the control panel>add/remove programs. Reboot a “cold boot” and reinstall photoshop. Make sure nothing else is runnng during the intall. Sometimes I instll in safe mood.

Xeeb,
I am glad I am not the only one. I don’t mind loosing my mind so much, it’s not being able to find it that really makes me wonder if I ever had it to begin with. I never thought of naming my computer but if I did, I’d call it “Murphy”. I wonder what Murphy would call me?? Hate to think. Thanks,

never mind. I found it and realized it is only for closed paths.
Sorry

Ugg,
Thank you. But the path is curved like the letter “C”. The text is upsidedown and backwards at the beginning/bottom of the “C” shaped path and correct at the end. How do I get the characters to be correct at the beginning? I am missing something. I thought I could set them to always face the camera but I can’t seem to find that option. Thanks,
Clif
