There are also quick ways outside of the Avid application to proview fonts. It’s already been suggested to do a printout. One facility I’ve worked at had a small binder with sample pages for quick reference.
You don’t say if you’re on Windows or Mac; both OS’s have easily accessible utilities for quickly showing font samples onscreen. Granted it’s not as easy as having the font style right there in the dropdown menu list, but those are the available options.—

Brings to mind a useful feature in the Brand A editor- once a trim value is entered, you only need to hit + and Enter to trim successive events by same value, so travelling along a timeline to mark time intervals would just involve entering +15:00, and thereafter just +, Enter, Add Edit, etc. Wouldn’t mind seeing this implemented in FCP.

How could you possibly have had Safari 2.0 with 10.3.9 unless it was gotten from a Torrent or some such site. If you really did did have Safari 2.0 and did the 10.3.9 update, yes indeedy, your Safari sure will be hosed and messed up. You might also be possibly running Acid Search or Pith Helmet that has an item in ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/SIMBL folder. If so either remove the offending files or get the updaters for these accessory apps.
You can get 1.3 ver of Safari by either re-applying the 10.3.9 (use the Combo Updater) or use Pacifist to extract
the Safari App from the Updater package file.
Also sounds like you may have run the updater without taking the usual steps prescribed everywhere:
boot from CD, run Disk Utility> Repair Disk for your boot HD
reboot from HD, run Disk Utility from HD, run Repair Permissions
After updates, run Repair Permissions again.Lacking success with above, start over. Backup, erase, reinstall.

Except that normal speed for 8mm/Super8 is 18fps, (unless intentionally shot at 24fps for blowup to 16 or 35).
Some Super8 projectors can project at 24fps, so you could try the 24P capture and then speed bump
the video down. Getting the projector and camera “in phase” would be pretty much hit or miss unless the proj had variable
speed.—

While there’s no “standard,” there are some basic conventions that this person may have followed.
For example, One underline/color probably signifies a select Master or cover take. Others for alternate camera angles, alternate versions of performance, timecode notes for selects, cutaways, b-roll etc that correspond to the underlined parts of the script.
I very vaguely remember from school (a long-long time ago), probably in Millerson book, how to set up script and continuity notes.—

April 18, 2005 at 12:24 am in reply to: slow start ups, sluggish performance..what to do?Depending on what it is/was, putting “a lot of stuff on it” is not going to affect system performance or startup, unless you’ve put in stuff that modifies system appearance or operation..
Two things that often delay startup-
Are you connected to the internet when you start up? If not, check System Preferences to make sure your Date and Time pane is not spending time looking for a network time server to set the clock.
Is your Startup Disk pref set to your boot hard drive or has it been set to look for a Network drive to boot from?As for basic maintenance, whenever you do an upgrade, and also every once in a while, go to Disk Utility and run “Repair Permissions” on your drive. Startup from your System install CD, select Run Disk Utility from the menubar, and run “Repair Disk” on your usual startup disk.
Get Utilities Onyx, MacJanitor, Macaroni or Cocktail and occasionally run their tabs.—
