i had a hour show (46min) and i had to put add edits (razor tool) on the top layer every 10 – 15 seconds for some crazy reason i didnt even understand, i was wondering is there a way to just tap the razor blade key on the keyboard as i drag the cursor across the timeline that would add the cuts instead of having to put the cursor on the track? kinda like adding markers. I have 2 more shows to do.

Yeah.. hmm. Wouldn’t you just be able to use the left or right keys, in order to advance on the timeline, and then use the Razor key, whenever you need to?

Just a thought. Tell me how it works out.

Using CTRL+V while playing the timeline will add markers. When you hit stop, the markers magically turn into cuts. 🙂

I guess if you need to add an edit every 10 seconds or so the work flow would go like this.
Position you playhead to the first cut and press Control V. Then just type in “+10.00 ENTER” and
hit Control V again. Repeat until satisfied. Remember you can use your auto selectors to determine
    which tracks get knifed.

Brings to mind a useful feature in the Brand A editor- once a trim value is entered, you only need to hit + and Enter to trim successive events by same value, so travelling along a timeline to mark time intervals would just involve entering +15:00, and thereafter just +, Enter, Add Edit, etc. Wouldn’t mind seeing this implemented in FCP.

Yes in fact you didn’t need to hit anything just ENTER. Ok I guess they can’t steal ALL of AVIDs good interface element at once. 😉 Maybe in FCP 6 we’ll see rock solid media management and good trim mode.
