    i’ve broken down neutralizing into semi automatic presets and actual yuv, hsl, rgb values. it would be very easy to make a one click grade neutralizer that did white point, black point, 3d white balance for mixed lighting, gamma to 48 ire, sat to 70%, hue to value. Honestly, I don’t know why no one’s made the one-click master button yet. Then, all you’d have to do is the one creative lut after all shots standardized. maybe AI could give us the orange/teal look. it’s its favorite!

    hd tv is rec. 709, hdr is rec. 2020.
    high dynamic range doesn’t accept anything except certain h.264 hdr stuff. its still in beta. gamma 1.0 or linear light is used for compositing in linear color or matching cgi. not always needed and can do weird things if you’ve never used it before.
    32 bit is not always needed as well as it can change blending. it can help if you need overbrights or special grading. 16bpc is trillions of colors and will be the export depth for no banding. 32 can dither to it as well.

    I see you may post to youtube. if you want 10 bit color, you’ll need to HDR grade in resolve, create metadata for delivery or you’ll have to export out a lossless 8 bit codec, import again and run neatvideo(run as 8 bit effect) to remove banding and export final h.264.

  • I agree. premiere only has a global hue under fast color corrector. you’d have to luma key everything, and that is silly.
    ae/photoshop does have a hue control per color in a pinch. davinci’s hue vs hue and hue vs sat was made for this.

    for matching grades, first match black point, then white point, then global gamma, then global saturation. then go in with curves, white balance the overall shot, then wb blacks, whites, shadows midtones, highlights, then rotate color hues. then secondaries luma, sat. etc.

  • you would need to explain what your issue is in more detail. do you have a P3 monitor or sRGB?
    p3 to srgb is for converting a P3 calibrated monitor into premiere’s native sRGB environment.

    the ‘fixmyyoutube’ lut is for burning in a darker image because youtube will lighten the image when processing.
    both would be applied in premiere’s effect lumetri under the lut load button. a lut is a look up table. you can read about
    them online in more detail.

    afaik, they should all take it natively. youtube doesn’t allow interlaced. dvd authoring will add 3:2 pulldown flag on the fly, bluray will go native, amazon needs progressive too. I don’t see a problem. you don’t need broadcast unless your..broadcasting.

    o my.. you’re hosed. prores is not DPX log, EXR half float, or Tiff 16bit. you need at least 16 bit capture or your throwing away dynamic range below 16 f-stops. maybe its 8mm? lol.

    I forgot to mention about the curves. they will be your friend. After black point, white point. set gamma with exclusion to a certain ire so all shots match gamma.
    Each shot will have custom rgb curves. to normalize them fast, luma key mask part of the shot at a time.
    blacks, shadows, midtones, highlights, white point. the vectorscope will show you if its in the middle and neutralized, allowing you to focus on one part at a time.
    now all will be perfect. you can grade after all shots match.

    if it was captured in 8 bit, upgrading to 10 bit isn’t going to help grading. cineform will just make it easier to scrub the timeline. Now if you do some noise/grain reductions, its dithering algorithm may require exporting to a 10 bit codec for banding removal.

    The gold series is clocked too low for design/graphics hybrid workstations. The W-2195 would have more cores for c4d rendering but slower in the other apps.

    if you must have EEC memory, I’d go with the W-2155 as it is the most comparable to 7940 series although 1% slower and more expensive.

    unfortunately no such cpu exists.

    AE likes 4 cores at a really high clock speed. premiere likes 10 cores at a really high clock speed and c4d (render) likes 20 cores with dual gpu’s. c4d (design, animation) likes high freq 8700k because it only utilizes a single core.

    closest you could get for all three would be a really expensive 7940x.
