Posted by Scott Witthaus on January 8, 2018 at 8:54 pmwhen Nvidia will have AI doing all that anyway. Color correction will be simple compared to composing orchestral music:

January 9, 2018 at 1:23 amThe rules of editing seem be as easy for AI as grading. But after the AI automated attempt what tools do you need to get back in and finesse? Wheels for color?

January 9, 2018 at 4:26 ami’ve broken down neutralizing into semi automatic presets and actual yuv, hsl, rgb values. it would be very easy to make a one click grade neutralizer that did white point, black point, 3d white balance for mixed lighting, gamma to 48 ire, sat to 70%, hue to value. Honestly, I don’t know why no one’s made the one-click master button yet. Then, all you’d have to do is the one creative lut after all shots standardized. maybe AI could give us the orange/teal look. it’s its favorite!

Turn that into a plugin and you’ll make bank. I’ve yet to find an auto balance button that wasn’t useless 90% of the time.

January 9, 2018 at 7:05 amIt’s not “why has no one made X” it’s more like “there’s been a bunch of tries to make X but it doesn’t actually work in a real world setting”. One could get all the money and awards for an actual magic bullet but it’s been mostly talk.

You have to be careful using a capital X. Around here that means FCPX. I am sure you are using it differently but zealots may descend on you like a ravenous horde if you are not careful.

Truly a first world problem.
