Hi Bastiaan…the Lite version is perfect for onset looks creation coz two nodes is is probably sufficient for that purpose. I can think of many other uses for the Lite version…can’t wait for it to be released as well.

You may want to wait for the Blackmagic Design Ultrastudio 3D which is a Thunderbolt based video I/O device that allows your MacBook Pro (with Thunderbolt) to have video I/O capability. You can replace your internal drive with a high speed SSD one which will give you speed to playback 2K. Or you can get the new Promise Thunderbolt based storage.

The FX4800 is slower than the GTX285 so both will run at the same FX4800 speed.

You should consider getting another GTX285 as two of them will give you alot of performance. You can still get them at eBay apparently.

It will probably work since it is the same Decklink series but it is of course not officially supported.

The only way is to stick the card in, install Resolve v8 and see what happens.

Buy Resolve v7 to get the dongle. Resolve v8 is free.

But Resolve v7 at US$300 is too good to be true…I would be very very careful about that.

Resolve v8 is a free update you can downloaded from the Blackmagic Design website so you won’t be using the DVD installer that comes with the package, which is Resolve v7. What you’re after is the dongle, that’s all.

The Resolve v8 you download is a full installer so if you lose the original DVD installer it doesn’t matter, just don’t lose the dongle as it can easily be mistaken as a USB thumb drive.

What you need to do is in the Browse Page, select the clip that you have already imported into the Media Pool and then select the matte that you want to associate it with in the storage browse area above, right click and select Add Matte.

The in the Color Page, add a node, right click and select the matte at the bottom of the menu. When you apply your color correction you will see the result. You can invert and blur the matte as well.

Do you want to use the alpha matte to isolate your color correction or do you want to use it to key over another video track in the multitrack timeline ?
