  • Best Price for Reslove 8

I’m about to buy Resolve 8 and am trying to find the best place and price.

B&H photo in N.Y. has Resolve listed for $945.00 and for me in Calif there would be no tax and free shipping… BUT… they don’t list the version number and I’m suspicious it’s Resolve 7.

I can buy here in L.A. but the best price I’ve seen so far is $995.00 plus about $ 100 in Calif sales tax.

Anyone know of a better deal?

    Thanks!

Version 8 is a no charge upgrade for all v7.x customers so you can download the official release from our web site and the v7.x dongle will recognize the v8 just as if it was from the DVD.

Resolve v8 is a free update you can downloaded from the Blackmagic Design website so you won’t be using the DVD installer that comes with the package, which is Resolve v7. What you’re after is the dongle, that’s all.

The Resolve v8 you download is a full installer so if you lose the original DVD installer it doesn’t matter, just don’t lose the dongle as it can easily be mistaken as a USB thumb drive.

I’m a first time Resolve buyer.

Are you saying I need to buy the v7 DVD and the dongle then do the free update to v8?

Is that what I’m actually seeing for sale at stores and online stores? v7? not v8? Meaning there is no v8 DVD for sale?

What everyone is saying is that you can download resolve 8 free from blackmagic. Anyone can download it but you need the dongle to make it work. So it doesn’t matter if b&h is selling 7 or 8 all you need in the retail box is the dongle

    I see. Thanks.

I did a little Googling and found 2 websites selling Resolve 7 for about $300 dollars. 1 site I’m SURE is a scam. I’m not sure about the other one.

Could I still buy Resolve 7 then do the free update to 8? And if so would it be cheaper? Or are Resolve 7 and 8 both selling for the same price?

Buy Resolve v7 to get the dongle. Resolve v8 is free.

But Resolve v7 at US$300 is too good to be true…I would be very very careful about that.

I am pretty sure CA resellers will match B&H price – some will even match it with sales tax and shipping included (with partial Teleproduction Exemption applied).

    (I know I will :))

I am in the office (usually) at 10am.

There is also an option of ordering it here and putting a note in with the order (there will be a place to put it), “$945 total with the sales tax and shipping; I will submit the Teleproduction Exemption via email, fax or in person.”

Order notes override any other instructions and are adhered to with fervor. If we can’t – the order is not processed.

(Here is to hoping that the Gods of Creative Cow will forgive me for this blatant merchandising transgression, for they know I don’t transgress often.)

    Cheers and g’nite.
