You can use the free Media Express to injest into Quicktime format and then import into Resolve, all on the same machine.

If it crashes too often it’s best to capture the log and email it to DaVinci support and see what’s going on.
If too erratic then maybe a fresh install may be warranted.

You can certainly grade on the Resolve with mouse or tablet. If that’s what you’ve already been doing with Apple Color, then you won’t feel the need for the panel. You will definitely grade much faster with the panel and the Tangent Wave is the lowest cost panel that you can find in the market now.
Assuming you already have a Resolve qualified Mac Pro and some form of storage, you basically need a Quadro4000 GPU card, a Decklink card and the Resolve license. Those three items will cost you around US$2800. The Tangent Wave panel is about US$1500 so total is US$4300 and you have a pretty decent Resolve setup.
Or you can go to eBay and look for a GTX285 GPU card and you’ll save some $$$ as it is cheaper than the Quadro4000 and more powerful actually.

I’m not sure if this will work. You can try export the project in the Config page using the Export+ when you right click on the project name and then only select Stills in the options dialogue box.
The only thing I’m not sure if this will include the Power Grades or just the Stills tab for that project.
Perhaps you can create a new project, copy those grades from Power Grades tab to the Stills tab and then export it out. Import this project on another system and then copy to the Power Grades tab.

In what kind of situation would we need to see all the loaded EDLs at the same time in the timeline ?
What would be nice though is if we can merge all the loaded EDLs into one EDL. For example if we have 5 x 20mins EDLs for a feature film that came in as the editing is done, if we merge all into one EDL or timeline we’ll be able to view the whole feature film in one seating.
Or can this already be done somehow ?

Personally I feel in order to have multi-layer timeline support, we must also have XML support at the same time as they both somewhat goes hand in hand. And to have multi-layer timeline support the GUI has to change to accomodate multi-layer timeline display so there’s alot of work to do if the DaVinci team plan to support it.
I’m sure they have an endless to-do list for Resolve and I’m sure XML is one of the most common request but multi-layer timeline, not sure man. Someday perhaps but I’m sure it will take time for them to get this done.

Hi Rohit,
Just to confirm, if we use Power Mastering method to output to tape with Source Timecode output turned ON, we will need to feed the Decklink analog audio channel 1 to the LTC timecode input on the VTR, correct as this will feed timecode to the VTR. Correct ?
This is how we have done it in Resolve Linux v6 so just need to confirm that it has not changed in v7.
