  • Create EDL with handles?

I can’t seem to get a right-click menu to create a session with handles. I am clicking on the EDL in the Timeline Management window on the left side of the conform page but no menu appears (it does select the EDL though). Right-click doesn’t seem to do anything on any of the sessions in that list, including the Master Session. The manual indicates right-clicking should give a menu that includes “Add session with handles.” Can anyone replicate this behavior or even better tell me what I’m not doing right? Right-clicking works elsewhere in the program, so I don’t think it’s button assignment problem.

Hi, on the conform screen, select the master timeline, then right click to select ‘Create Session with Handles”

Hi Peter, thanks for the response. The trick is, I’m not getting anything by right-clicking on any of the sessions/edls in the timeline management window on the conform screen. It highlights the session, but no options appear. I have no problem right-clicking anywhere else (for example, clips in the pool just above the timeline management window). Running 7.1.1 on OSX 10.6.5.

Are you right-clicking in the timeline (to the right) or in the Timeline Management (to the left)?

The correct place to right-click is ON the timeline, so you get the popup menu where you can save EDL, add audio to the session etc.. In the bottom, you will have the menu item you’re looking for. 🙂

Haha! They need to put that diagram in the manual! You are correct, I was clicking on the list of timelines, not the timelines themselves. Silly.

    Thanks!

I’ve asked myself the same thing.

In what kind of situation would we need to see all the loaded EDLs at the same time in the timeline ?

What would be nice though is if we can merge all the loaded EDLs into one EDL. For example if we have 5 x 20mins EDLs for a feature film that came in as the editing is done, if we merge all into one EDL or timeline we’ll be able to view the whole feature film in one seating.

Or can this already be done somehow ?
