August 30, 2006 at 5:42 am in reply to: New kona driver screwed up system?

Thanks for the suggestions at such a late hour…I just tried your suggestion and the installer is still giving me an error. below is the log from the installer- it gives me the same error when trying to install any version of the kona installer- also the kona card is not visibleto the firmware updater as well: a dialog above the updater says: No Kona hardware installed.

    I am totally baffled!

I tried installing v2.0 and v 1.2 and the installer errors out.

It looks like ver 1.14 on the aja website is a corrupt zip file, because it errors during expansion.

does anyone have the original installer file they can email me and i’ll give it a shot? ( I can’t find my original installer disc right now)

February 5, 2006 at 9:03 am in reply to: Nighttime Jitter Issue with HVX 200

    Hi Jan,

I received my HVX on friday…Congrats on a remarkable product!

I wanted to mention I had a similar problem as described in this thread on my new HVX and I can repeat the issue:

turn on the autofocus and over-expose a scene: I used a single light source on a desk about 3-4 feet from the camera. you will get an image jitter in the spots of the frame. it is sort of strobing vibration.

once I bring down the exposure, or turn off the auto focus everything is perfect.

FYI: I also notice the problem if I press and hold the “Push Auto” button. This only occurs when overexposing, or in areas of the frame that are overexposed.

I’ve had similar problems and discovered we were shooting near a cell tower. we moved the camera a few hundred yards away and everything returned to normal.

    Jan,

Get well soon! Since you’ve been gone, the masses have been restless- only you can calm the savage hordes of techno nerds on all the message boards.

joking aside, I found myself in a similar situation about a year ago- ended up having major back surgery for a spinal cord growth that was going to paralyze me- sixteen weeks of PT and one year later and Im not only walking again, but stronger than ever.

Is there going to be a trade up offer to the K3 for current K2 users?

I can walk you through the process as I have done this many times. IT’s easier to discuss…email your contact info and I’ll give you a call.

I am having the same issue- it does not seem to affect FCP or the K2.

On the other hand, the FCP5 media manager is HORRIBLE. Try managing a project and deleting unused media- it won’t work in 5, yet is ok in 4.5HD.

    go figure!

On my K2 I can D/C HDV to NTSC in pillarbox(4:3) Anamorphic (16×9) and letterbox( 4×3 with black crops)… it looks great.
