We are pleased to announce the powerful new KONA 3, built upon a blazing fast 4-lane PCIe bus interface, and an all new extensible architecture. KONA 3 is our new flagship card for OSX, offering amazing new features, and compatibility with the newest PCIe Apple G5 PowerMacs.

KONA 3 is the new heavyweight champion capture card for uncompressed SD, HD, and Dual Link HD, on the new PCIe (PCI Express) PowerMac G5’s!
KONA 3 represents the next generation in KONA design, offering 40% more processing power than the KONA 2. KONA 3 offers all of the functionality of the KONA 2, plus exciting new features (see below), as well as an amazing new architecture that will allow powerful new features to be easily implemented in the near future (announcements will come as features are ready to be added, via downloadable software driver upgrades).

I see that the Kona 2 is not on the website anymore. Is the Kona Lhe the only HD option for PCI-X G5 users?

You can still purchase the K2 card.

No, you need the Kona 2 for that. Kona 3 is PCI Express only. If you own a Dual 2.7 there’s no reason for you to purchase a Kona 3, it’s essentially the same card, but supporting the new PCIe machines.

Not entirely true according to the AJA press release quote below:
…Offering 40% more processing power than the industry-leading KONA 2…
Not sure how much of this is hype but there must be at least a grain of truth to it?
