I must be stupid or something no matter what i try no edl is ever working for me.
I always get all clips that look cut up but are always x’ed out.

In color we could do the trick where we copied the image data from one channel to another and got around it. Though not sure about in DaVinci.. Some people run the footage though something like https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-denoiser/
or…
https://www.revisionfx.com/products/denoise/pricing/
Then grade.. Anyone have any other ideas?

I think you can do this a few ways.. 1 is export..
2. is backing up the database. On the Terminal:
Backup:
1. cd /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4/bin/
2. ./pg_dump -U postgres -Ft -b resolve > /tmp/resolvedb.tar
In the command #2 above, replace “resolve” with the database name, and /tmp/resovledb.tar with the file you want to save it to
3. Compress the backup file
gzip /tmp/resolvedb.tar
To Restore to a new DB:
1. gunzip /tmp/resolvedb.tar.gz
2. ./createdb -U postgres resolve1
3. ./pg_restore -U postgres -d resolve1 /tmp/resolvedb.tar
Can anyone elaborate here? If there is any other folders etc that need backing up
Maybe shoot out an edl and grab the original footage. Also i know many who right click and take still from middle of each shot one command does it all not each one manually thank god.. so they back up the grading trees. -
Speaking of scopes in Resolve. Is there a way to change the reading from MV to IRE?
If there is a preference I have not found it yet. -
You rock! That did it.. Now what did I do wrong to cause them to come in linked I wonder?
Did I miss a step? -
As far as speed changes.. why not have the editor bake them in? Or have you do the non speed changed clip then he can re-apply that one change once he or she relinks the clips?

I assume when you get the long full quicktime that you do a scene detect on. which sounds like it is the easiest for the editor.. and then you render it out how can you have handles? or do you bother?
that must give the editor a nightmare when they get it back.. I find out of all the things that seem like are not taught. its this last 2 % of editor to resolve back to the editor sections! No one ever seems
to talk about how this workflow should be done. I always have a hard time explaining to an editor what i need and in most cases seem to have to almost teach them.. As we get more and more indie films out there this is only going to get worse.. Is there a good set of instructions and best practices anywhere?
one for say FCP one for say Premiere and maybe Avid and Vegas? This is by far the most frustrating part I find in color grading!

How would you go about doing that?

Im just annoyed that BMD doesn’t list the 3d+ card on their site.. I didn’t even know about it and bought the 3d version “non +” from b&h a few weeks back … grrrrrrr
Blackmagic doesn’t show that on their product page at all.
It just mentioned the HD 3d one
