What are you viewing this on? Do u have a monitor hooked up to the camera?
When Didging DV anamorphic the capture window will look like 4X3.
B/4 capture go to “Easy Setup” choose DV anamorphic.
Make sure your default time line is also the same. Make new one after easy setup. Load a piece of footage and drop it in the time line.After u go to tape – playback to a monitor that will display 16X9

Yup, u gotta pair down the size of the project file. Break it up into separate projects. We continually “save as” with our projects as a safety b/c FCP will become corrupt with its project files if left to grow to big.

I had this same prob a few weeks ago. Could not get it to work.
Make sure in the menu you have dv50 out selected.
I ended up on another comp and kept trying and trying and finally FCP allowed capture.Chris Tompkins

Firewire capture from camera or DV Deck is all u need. This is a direct data transfer.

MPEG stream clip – rip it to a 8 bit uncompressed file .mov and import it.

I know you can use it to load footage. You can use it to play out to and loop through to a monitor/tv.
I don’t know if you can print to tape with it though.Chris Tompkins
