I have a JVC mini DV deck that is about five years old, it is on it’s last leg, I have had it fixed twice, I don’t want to put anymore money in the deck, I used it a whole lot and I truly feel I have got my money’s worth. My question, can I buy a cheap $300.00 mini DV camera (preferbly a panasonic) to use as a deck ? if I buy a cheap camera, can I still use it to print to tape (or master to tape) like I do on my JVC deck ??

    Thanks

I know you can use it to load footage. You can use it to play out to and loop through to a monitor/tv.
I don’t know if you can print to tape with it though.

You can print to tape but you probably not be able to Edit to Tape. They are much slower in shuttling back and forth but they work, if you are doing a lot of mastering you may want to look for a good used deck.
