Get yourself a good Compression software app. You’ll use it all the time. I highly recommend “Episode” by Telestream

Run the clips through compressor and convert to an edit friendly codec of your choice or that best matches the footage/edit u need.
OR
Drop em all in a timeline and render to the new chosen codec. But then they will un-render as u edit…

First off, quit FCP – trash preference.
Hook up cam to firewire.
Turn on Cam.
Launch FCP.

The media brand will in no way affect the quality of video burned to it.

I would format if u can. The drives can still become fragmented.
Drag all media off to a back-up drive. Format raid. Drag all files back. This might help. It has for us in the past.Chris Tompkins

What hard drive are you using for the media?

Format it OS Mac Extended not journaled & u’ll be fine.

Start with really large fotos and then u can work with them in any timeline aspect ratio.
