  • You probably ( I don’t know for sure) can only record back to the camera via firewire DV only. What r your time line settings?

    What kind a mac r u using?
    Got enough H.drive space?
    What’s in the time line? DV only?
    Is your timeline codec set to DV?
    R u outputting a DV clip? Using current settings?

    You don’t actually come out and say it but – You want to export a clip for use on a WIN machine?
    Windows won’t play DVCPRO HD codec as you have figured out.
    Yes, export 8 bit uncompressed would be the best route.

    What do you as an output from the imac?
    Do you want to run Firewire out to a deck/camera and then to a monitor?
    How our you getting video in and out of the imac now?

    If u don’t have a need for this all the time then just use compressor. Capture & edit in HD. Output reference file and load into compressor and select SD 4X3 hit render over nite.

    It’s more than likely a jusy an interlaced issue. Can u hook a TV up to your camera? Run Firewire out of FCP to ur cam. Then cam out to TV. This way you can see your timeline on a TV screen as it plays. Don’t judge ur video on the comp screen.

    OR

    Make a dvd and play it on a tv.

    You should use easy setup DV NTSC 48k and u’ll be fine.
    DV NTSC 48k Anamorphic if u shoot Wide.

    I had a GL2 that looked soft on wideshots when in 16X9 wide mode.
