The best way to export HD video to uncompressed?
Hi,
I work with FCP 6.01
and DVC pro hd 720p 25PN material.II guess that the best way to export the material for grading and aftereffects work is to make a quicktime movie and uncheck recompress and make it selfcontained.
But since the PC world does not accept the quicktimemovie (with the FCP symbol) I´m told that the best thing is to export the film as uncompressed 8-bit.
I have done this using quicktime conversion but I wonder if that was the best way to go.
Is there a loss in quality compared to if I could export a Quicktime movie (=make a copy of the source material in exactly the same quality )I´ve noticed a quality indication set to medium in the exporting dialog using quicktimeconversion > ucompressed but there is no where I can set the quality setting in the uncompressed dialog.
I hope this isn´t too confusing.
The thing I want to know is:
What is the best way to export my HD material if i can´t do a quicktimemovie ?
( since it does not play in the PC world )Thanks a lot. / Henrik

You don’t actually come out and say it but – You want to export a clip for use on a WIN machine?
Windows won’t play DVCPRO HD codec as you have figured out.
Yes, export 8 bit uncompressed would be the best route.Chris Tompkins

The thing i was thinking of was the medium quality indication in the uncompressed dialog but I guess It is maximum quality anyway.
