If the footage is HD or HDV you can not use DV as an easy setup for capture. You have to match settings.

What format are you trying to capture.
What deck?
What capture settings?

Choose an easy setup that matches your footage ~ go from there.

Carefull, if you’re using SL – these do not work.
Get the $350 Panny one, it’s the only cheap option.

Yes, Transfer the P2 files from the Cards to to the comp. Back them up. This is your tape master.
Use P2CMS.

Please, you should NOT edit h264 files in FCP.
Convert files b/4 editing.

DVDSP will not create BluRay Discs Period.

If you need menu options go w/Adobe Encore.

OK, So stay Interlaced for you DVD. This is fine.

In Compressor:

Frame Control On

Resize Filter – Best
Output Fields – Same as Source
Deinterlace – Best
Rate Conversion – Best

Let us know how this looks for you.

If you shot and edited progressive and output current settings
make a progressive DVD
compress to mpeg2 progressive.
