Hia.
This was 3 years ago so I honestly have no idea what I did to get it right.
Currently I’m working on CS6 and had a capturing problem recently. I just had to reset all my settings to make sure they are correct. I dont have a Z5 anymore so cant give advice on the specifics but these should help.
Set your device output to:
1080
I link off
aspect ratio 16:9
AV->DV out: offGenerally speaking, if you recorded it on the camera and can play it back it should pick up on your desktop through premiere as long as the desktop can see the camera.

I’m also looking into buying a blackmagic card. Have read up on the other things but the Blackmagic seems like the way to go. Would love to hear form someone that already has the card and can give us some accurate responces and not worked up marketing hype.

Got it fixed in the end. Turn of the auto downconvert. I had to take it through a special HD capture card and set the device type to generic, not sony. Hope it helps.

BTW. The camera is set to HDV mode, not auto and downconvert is OFF.

Hia.
I made sure and my default settings are on PAL. Creating a new blank menu just makes it ntsc which it weird. Its ok though since I make all my menus in photoshop now anyway. Just abit anoying for when i wanna make a quick simple 1 button menu.

Not sure but after u install the update simply edit another project and after bout 10 minutes premiere sais it needs to update drivers. Accept and then all will be fine after the program asks for a restart.
The 4.2 update is out now and its been working 1st time with this so you should try to get that patch. Also get the 4.2 patch for Adobe Media Encoder or you wont be able to output to anything useful.

I’m suing cs4 and got the plugin bt it never worked. So I went abit deeper and after updating premiere and after effects it all works wonderfully. (except that my system cant handle it so i hav to scale it to 2k @ quarter resolution playback) but it still works.
Thanx for the tip. Any advice you can give me as per settings when exporting and which container codecs I should use? I’m on PC bt my client is on mac so I’ll probably use quicktime bt what codec???

Wow. That some post you have there.
What did you upgrade from to ur current cs4? It might help if ur system restore is on, to restore to a point prior to any updates u did and just take it from there. I don’t have any coding experience so for me when files don’t open as they should, I normally just open a previous auto save version. You could try importing the project into after effects and see if it’ll work there. Sounds like ur still in school so if this thing does not wanna work anymore take it as a learning curve. NEVER change ur hardware / software in the middle of a project unless you absolutely have to. Theres always a screw up and then u get what u have.
Personally I’m very disappointed in CS4. even if we look past that it came out waaay 2 quick after CS3 lotsa stuff changed for the worst IMO.

Cool thanx for the input. I’ll be looking into all of those shortly. That video he has in his tutorial is exactly what I need but to get it like that on the MUCH newer CS3 is proving to be a big problem.
