Premiere Pro CS4, Corrupted project – Help
When I upgraded to CS4 4.1.0 in June followed by adding Shockware and upgrading to Flash Player 10 a week ago, along with install and uninstall of my Premiere Production, things crumbled.
Followed Adobe tech spt instructions. Then cannot find my files – when I did, I cannot open it any longer. It will sit there trying to load forever with no error message. When you cancel, it crashes. I finally found a file (older version) in a Temp folder somewhere in my directory and was able to identify a corrupted AfterEffects file – corrupted on the same day I installed the Shockware and the update on the Flash Player. But then I cannot open my original project file which I have worked many hours, days, weeks, months!!! It is my “Final Project” from my school and now, I tried everything.
Adobe Tech spt told me last Monday to uninstall QuickTime and reinstall the latest version from Apple but then, that created some other problems…..Ever since I have purchased my CS4 Premiere Production pkg, everything went downhill!!! I am so dissappointed. I tried the steps provided by Tech Spt – follow the KB408983 and renamed and tested my files. Still cannot open that one file.
Now, after all this, I am no longer able to open any of my Auto-Save files and any of the other files….!!! I was able to open them before this QuickTime update!! Last night, I downloaded the Xml Wrench.exe and found one older file and was able to view the codes = I did not see any corrupted files – I may not be aware of it…but did find that corrupted AAE file. It is located in several areas within the 35,000+ line of codes and not sure what to delete – I wanted to remove that AAE avi file which I knew had problems but not sure where I should start deleting – from the SubClip (which provides the “name” all the way down to VideoClipTrackItem – not sure where to start the delete. Trying to identify the code so I can delete safely without damaging my file any further.
Another option is try to find where all my avi’s are linking to and fix my directories so that these files are at the same location as posted in my corrupted Premiere Pro project. I noticed that some of the files like avi’s are located at the beginning of the code – (on the XML Wrench)listed as Version 1 or 2 or 3, etc. Then it is listed like mid way down the codes and also at the end…. Does anyone know how I can remove the file I think is bad? Or is there another way I can open my project – Yes, I did try to import it into another new project but same problem – just sits there.
Another note, I do have my files for this project located in several directories and unfortunately not in folders – I tried to pull them into a folder earlier (before the upgrades/updates) but then I was not able to open my files any longer so I had to keep them scattered – in 4 directories = 2 external, 2 internal directories – I am still an amateur and had no idea CS4 would crash like this – I know the CS3 crashed alot also but nothing like CS4!!! I am soooo sad and disgusted!! (Note, other files with scattered directories work fine). And this file is located in my normal directory created by Adobe: C:/users/Jean/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/4.0 and it is also on the “Roaming” directory and Autosave and Preview but they too are no longer able to open….!!

Wow. That some post you have there.
What did you upgrade from to ur current cs4? It might help if ur system restore is on, to restore to a point prior to any updates u did and just take it from there. I don’t have any coding experience so for me when files don’t open as they should, I normally just open a previous auto save version. You could try importing the project into after effects and see if it’ll work there. Sounds like ur still in school so if this thing does not wanna work anymore take it as a learning curve. NEVER change ur hardware / software in the middle of a project unless you absolutely have to. Theres always a screw up and then u get what u have.
Personally I’m very disappointed in CS4. even if we look past that it came out waaay 2 quick after CS3 lotsa stuff changed for the worst IMO.
