After considerable research, I’ve found that depending on the api call a program uses to read its font list, Type 1 fonts may or may not work under Vista. The actual problem is that adobe is using a legacy API call to build their font list in the CS3 apps that functions correctly under XP (and maybe even Vista x86, not sure), but not under Vista x64.
The only workaround was to drop some cash on a program called TransType Pro that let me batch convert all my Type 1 fonts to TrueType fonts.
P.I.T.A. but it’s done now.

The fact that Word and Vegas properly display the fonts leads me to believe it’s an Adobe issue, not a Vista one.

Nope, just plunk em in! You’re already on vista 64 so you should be fine.
A single application (like AE) will still only be able to address a max of 4GB at a time though.

If you want a decent alternative to Raid 0, try Raid 5. It uses the capacity of one drive to create redundency. So let’s say you have three 1TB hard drives and create a Raid 5 out of them. The capacity of the drive will be 2TB, but if any of the 3 drives fail, you’ll still be able to mount the drive and recover all your data.

For what it’s worth, I *HIGHLY* recommend FXHome’s PowerPlug plugin over the built-in AE lightning effects.

I don’t know of any such feature on Windows… But for the OP it sounds like maybe the file got corrupted somehow in the copy? Try to manually replace the “collected” file with the original source. If that still doesn’t work, maybe try to re-export that AVI from its source (or reencode it in another program) and do a file replacement within after effects… Not a solution but a possible workaround.

This might not be organic enough for what you’re doing, but it’s worth mentioning anyway… On your page layer, move the anchor point to the left edge, then make it a 3d layer. When you “turn the page,” rotate along the Y axis 180 degrees.
