I’m updating from 5.1.1, I did the QT update a week or two ago and it was fine. When the FCP window flashes up before it quits, FCP says it’s at 5.1.2. Also I’m on a:

1.67 Ghz G4 Powerbook
1.5 Gb RAM
OS: 10.4.7

I haven’t used proxies, but I bought this component for $30, everything imported right in (though when I first tried the demo, I though the watermark was some sort of corruption, it was a huge red bar in the middle third). The files where a pretty processor heavy in FCP but not too bad. I used the send to Shake funtion and everything worked great.

Hi,

I occasionally green green in my playback monitor and have to trash the preferences. It happens about once a week, it’s a system that has quite a few different users and projects set ups are always getting changed. For this reason I have FCPRescue in my Dock and easily trash them. Hope this helps.

I had this problem when I first upgraded to FCP5. First I trashed my prefs, it eventually came back so I updated and it went away.

We did a similar workflow. The only difference was we were working at 60fps, laid out a master on the 1200A deck, then took that master to a Color Correction facility who mastered to the 1700. They quality was great. I had heard warnings of graphics/transition rendering at the DVCPROHD codec, and that it might not be acceptable but experienced no problems. In fact, we did several speed changes, which I never do in FCP, and they turned out looking really good.

We did run into technical problems along the way like some tapes had MANY timecode breaks in, upon checking the the timecode in the bin did not reflect the tape. Revealing in finder showed the the media itself was correct, so we had to rename the source and reimport. This could be a normal FCP problem but I’ve never encountered it before.

I could get it to capture uncompressed or at offline resolutions, but when going through the Kona to get the DVCPRO HD codec FCP kept crashing. Called AJA and turned out I needed a different driver. Very help full people at AJA.
