It’s possible FCP will figure out the framerate. When I captured a test from my Canon A1 with 60i, 24 and 30 p all in a row, it made new clips but captured each segment correctly. The browser will show you what you get.

Most of the time QT Pro is what I use, but there’s also a really neat little audio app called Switch, which does everything really fast and well.

Just this week I blew up an iStock SD photo jpeg clip to 720p with Compressor, it looked completely perfect. I wouldn’t make a single excuse for it, you can’t tell it was uprezed.

REsizer faster than Compressor? Not when I tested it about a year ago, they must have fixed it, it was really slow. Compressor does an really good job on this.

I put one of these in over a year ago and have never looked back, same machine as you have. This thing is good for at LEAST two more years I’d say. Works great.

I exported from FCP using QT conversion, normally I would export an uncompressed movie and compress it in Episode or QT, but I was in a hurry. Never saw that field reordering before.

Smoothcam work fine if there is little motion it the shot, otherwise it can make bizarre ghosting on motion, but you might like it. I don’t, plus the time it takes is agonizing in the best of cases.
For routine stabilization I most always use After Effects.
