Well, I can’t help you with Color, but I have the same camera and shoot everything in 30F. You can continue to capture native HDV, but you should put it in a ProRes timeline and render it. I capture most everything to ProRes from the getgo, just have to budget disc space, but never a problem. Often I use the 1080 footage in D1 anamorphic NTSC timelines, as most of my delivery is SD, and this allows great flexibility in panning, zooming and repositioning footage.
Regarding gain, mine is set at 0 db, but this camera does not score well in low light performance, really my only issue with it.

In Episode you do both steps in one operation. It’s pretty easy, but you should pay attention to how it gets cropped or stretched, as PAL is a different aspect than NTSC.
In Compressor it takes two steps, as Walter says.

If they were shot on film you are likely seeing pulldown. In After Effects you can remove the pulldown and change the frame rate back to 24. I used to do this all the time at an agency I worked at which always shot film, and we did this to put the spots in Powerpoint, always worked great. Not sure if you can do this in Motion, but it’s worth a shot if you don’t have AE. Combustion will do this too, I believe.

I don’t know the name of the font, but it sucks for TV. I’d look for something with less extremes in thickness, and an “L” that doesn’t look like a “J.”

Like it or not, I was simply stating a fact of life here and on many forums. IMO, the “critisism” is 99.9% of the time not meant to hurt, but is often well deserved, and downright entertaining. So chill and enjoy.

To do what you want, you can skip Compressor. From your timeline, select Export>QuickTime, NOT QT conversion, select the chapter marker setting, then go into current settings and select “custom,” then change the compressor to H.264 and set a data rate, voila, a beautiful movie with markers.

Hey Dan,
Well, I do jack up the data rate, and put quality on 100, but one of the other quirks I run into is frame size, I find it helps to make your input movie exactly the size you want your SWF, as otherwise it screws it up about half the time. Other than that, it’s kinda slow, but pretty painless. Helluva an app for the $$.
