Hi Michelle,

Just change your compressor to ProRes when you are done editing, and render. I doubt the result will look better, but at least a ProRes movie can be exported out as QT, without additional rendering.

I’m finishing up an exact same type of project this week, but it looks so good in DVCPRO HD I plan on leaving it at that.

It looks to me that YouTube will take care of the frame size when they re-encode. I don’t think they ever use our raw files. Otherwise, they would not have consistent controllers, no?

For instance, I just watched a video which was shot and presented 4×3, and they pillarboxed it.

But this is great news, we can now put up widescreen movies without letterboxing!

When you bring in the 24p have you seen what the browser tells you is the frame rate?

I’m working on a job right now which camera A was 24pn and camera B was 24p and camera B came in at 59.94. Seems to work fine in my 23.98 DVCPRO HD timeline…

MPEG Streamclip is really great, but it is not faster than real time, so I doubt it will solve your capture problem.

BUT, you CAN drag and drop your captured DV footage if you put DV Monitor Pro in the loop. It will send the footage in QuickTime DV to any hard drive hooked up via FireWire, gives you live monitoring from say, a laptop and focus and exposure monitoring via the same. It works really well, I use it for casting as the director can see the takes immediately. It doesn’t seem to fail, but you should run tape at the same time as I don’t think most tape cameras will record without a tape, so you’ll always have a backup.

Also check out Veescope Live. Does the same thing only can do HDV too.
