About all I can think of would be to try some layering of your video and see if that helps. Try copying all of it over itself and mess with the composit modes. If the blockiness is random this might help, but I doubt you will stop it completely.

That camera requires that the playback standard be set to HDV in order to capture to FCP by any method. By default it’s set to Auto. This is in the camera’s manual. You must change the setting in the menu BEFORE you hook it up to the FireWire.
