I am working with FCP 6 on my MacBook Pro, and exporting a 720p24 sequence through Compressor and going using one of the web download options for Quicktime 7.

It’s a 16×9 piece, and I am going into the geometry parameters to make sure it’s exporting for 16×9. I’ve done this hundreds of times before, but for some reason the finished product is not 16×9, but square, seemingly 4:3.

Anyone know where this bug might be coming from and how I can solve it?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Samath,
[Samah Bennett] “It’s a 16×9 piece, and I am going into the geometry parameters to make sure it’s exporting for 16×9. I’ve done this hundreds of times before,”

If your master is 16×9 you don’t need to do nothing in the “geometry parameters”, but to set the proper size in Square pixels.
The “wide x high” of your web movie must ALWAYS keep the 16×9, so feasible sizes are for example:
    – 160 x 90
    – 320 x 180
    – 400 x 270
    – 480 x 360
    -….

    I think you mean 480 x 270 and 640 x 360… 😉

    You are absolutely right.
    Should be:
    – 400 x 225 (careful with the Macroblocks structure ).
    – 480 x 270
    – 640 x 360.
    etc……
    Thanks,

    Samah,

Assuming you are using DVDSP, in the inspector, you get an option to set the track to 16×9. It works the same as having your m2v set stretched out.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thank you gentleman. Exporting this video for the web, the problem was that i forgot the width x heigth calculus. changes for the web. listening to all of you reminded me of that, and helped me solve the problem and I really appreciate it.
