Well, based on your comments in another post, I for one think that the MUltibridge will be the solution that will help stave off the inevitable longer than any of these other solutions. So I’m gonna wait a couple of months.

I totally agree with Bryce about graphics size, especially in FCP. I use the exact same rule of thumb as he and my machine flys.
Regarding working with audio in AE, I do it all the time and find it much easier than I previously percieved it to be. A method I use is hit “LL” to twirl down the audio waveform, and jack up the levels so you can see it better. (turn down your speakers a bit for this part!)
It is usually then very easy to edit to the beat or whatever.

If I were trying to do a film look, first of all I would use Gfilm from nattress.com over MB anyday. If you’re doing speed changes, it may help to render the sequences out to self-contained QT movies before you put on your film look filter.
Also, it would be helpful to know what kind of footage you’re dealing with, how it was shot, frame rates etc.

I have the exact same Maxtor drive behaving exactly the same way between the exact same computers! I’m thinking either Walt’s and/or Jerry’s solutions are good to try.

Soundsoap works great, but you can overdo it too, you have to be really careful with it.
But, from what I could gather from the QT tidbits about Soundtrack Pro on Apple’s site, it’s gonna have some pretty wizzbang noise reduction.

Hey gang,
This is all great input, perhaps I should have included a little more info. I’m thinking about moving the Decklink SP to my other machine or just brooming it, and adding the Kona2 to the G5 in anticipation on HD work, and still doing SD work from and to my Beta SP machine. So I’m looking for suggestions for the best hardware to go along with the K2. Does that make sense?

Is it just me, or is anyone else worried what will happen to Panther/FCP4.5 jobs when you shift to tiger and FCP5?
I’m in no hurry to upgrade, as the current config is running as smooth as ever.
