  • Rob,

Installing FCP5 automatically updates QT7 to Pro. Upgrading to 7.0.1 will not require another key.

BTW to all of you who are sick of my bitching about how well Tiger and FCP5 don’t work, I seem to have traced my problems to an SCSI drive going bad. On a whim I moved the project over to my backup drives and voila! It all seems to work as advertised.

Huge is looking at the suspect drive this week.

    Rob,

Well, I got it working on Sunday and Monday, but yesterday in FCP it just stopped. Just one of my many Tiger/5 headaches. It still works in Soundtrack though.

Gonna try to get it back ’cause when it works, it’s awesome.

  • Robb,

Boy, that’s a tough one. The fact is, a decent dual PC and Premiere Pro can be a pretty good setup, especially for DV.

I would think your own experience with FCP should be enough to sell him.

But, you could always toss up the thought that the Production Studio is a pretty powerful package, depending of course on their needs. If they’re just doing simple cuts and not a lot of multicam stuff, you may have a tough sell.

    Hi John,

I also have Decklink SP and the latest drivers, and I get capture weirdness that’s different.. Sometimes I get a no video alert in the capture window, sometimes not.

Also, I don’t get the new clip settings, how sometimes it captures with 8 or 10 audio tracks, all except the top two are empty.

But I have other problems. Video is intermitint, it seems to kick itself off of all frames. Also, I get the same pixelization a lot of folks are seeing and have to turn sequence settings field dominance to none and that fixes it.

This is the third attempt to get this all to work, an upgrade install and two erase and installs, all with the same result. FCP% just isn’t working.

All the rest of Studio seems to work, although I haven’t reallt tested Motion much.

The RT Mac was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned. I still have on sitting in my G4, the only thing it”s good for now is it lets me hook up an extra monitor. Otherwise a total waste of a thousand bucks.

Just thought of this, but KRK probably stands for “killer, really killer.”

    Hey Walt,

What a hoot, I bought mine at Guitar Center in Tempe. The KRK V4s are even more awesome. A little more expensive, but I got a pair for $420 at fullcompass.com for my other system.

Hey Matte, I know, no offence taken. I always value your comments.

Don’t know about the Mackies, but I got some KRK Rokit5s for the same price and they are kick-ass bigtime.

Never mind, I found it. Boy, what an obscure process with no info in the manual I could find. There’s a post by Kelly dated May 21 in which a poster describes the process for install, in case anyone else gets one of these controllers. Works great.
