Never mind about the firmware, I got it, and followed your instructions and now it works. What I would like to know is, how did you know all this? It isn’t in the manual at all.

This is more of another question than an answer, but if this is going to the big screen, wouldn’t it be best to start the project in an HD format?

I guess the main thing was just to let the Tiger install do what it defaults to, upgrade the OS. Dunno, but it all worked, FCP 5 is running fine, Motion, Compressor, Live Type, SoundtrackPro, everything seems normal. Just like any other update, all of which have been flawless to date.

If the audio is too low, what is the hesitancy of taking the clips into Peak and raising the gain a bit? You get a stronger file and a bigger waveform to boot. I do this all the time.

I somehow remember you’re a big fan of Promax, which is why I’m surprised you haven’t checked out the FireMax series. In addition to the great support they provide, the drives are removable, so you can have as many as you want. Having had 4 LaCie drives die on me over the last couple of years, I can only say that your success with them has been good luck.
So I wish you continued luck, but also that you check out the Promax drives. They are awesome. And about the same price as LaCie or G raid.
